I just felt like I was just going to die or pass out or just lose control. Then I got introduced to my counsellor and we had some time to talk, and I let her know what was going on in my life. We just really searched who I was, and the things that I liked to do. I just found hope in the things that I liked. I went back to the basics of who I am, what I enjoy doing, not necessarily finding a career but just that I do like things and I do enjoy life. So we did some testing, just different things to see what I was good at, skills and stuff like that. It was really, really fun, it wasn't scary or anything, that's what I enjoyed about it. My most favourite thing about it was just the love and support that I felt. If I was in the middle of a panic attack, and I knew I had an appointment, I always felt bad for being late, so I would phone ahead and say "You know, I'm really struggling to get down there. I'm on my way, but if you could just wait for me, I'll be there."

Just knowing that the person on the other end was there to help me, and that they were waiting for me, somebody was waiting for me, I was able to get down there. I had to go more frequently in the beginning, then less and less towards the end. I just found that it brought my confidence way up, and I could walk with my head high, like, "I know who I am." It was still really shaky, but going through the program also helped me when I did find a job, the follow-up was amazing. The phone calls [from my Counsellor] just seemed to come on the days that I was really having a stressful day. Just having a person on the other end saying, "Are you okay today?" or "What kinds of things can we do to help you get through the day?" and "We're still here supporting you", "Work can be difficult and stressful, but you know how to handle those kinds of stresses" was very helpful.
